Welcome!
Ever feel your ancestors staring expectantly at you from the past? Waiting patiently for you to discover them. To learn more about them. Where would we be without those who came before? Well, we wouldn’t be here. Literally.
There are plenty of motivations for tracking them down and discovering more about their lives. Those range from learning about their medical struggles that may shed light on our own, to just simply honoring them in small ways in recognition of accomplishments and losses that ultimately contributed to our very existence. There is a certain excitement in discovering the names of our predecessors, and even more excitement in discovering facts about their lives. Did they start with nothing and earn a fortune? Did they start with a fortune and end up with nothing? Were they respected? Scoundrels? Did they serve in a war? Were they left to take care of home and children while their spouses served in conflicts? The questions can seem endless.
Family – names, dates, locations – these are all important. But the really interesting part of “family history” is the “history” part. That is, “his story” and “her story.” The lives of each ancestor took place in a specific place and time, and learning about the society, customs, and events that influenced those lives is where we can really get some insight into our forebears.
But let’s face it: Assembling the outline of our family tree can be hard enough. Discovering more facts about them can be an outright challenge. Sometimes, it can seem like we’re just hitting one brick wall after another. Whether you’ve been working diligently on your genealogy for years, or don’t know where to start, or don’t have the time to research and write the family history you would like to have, I can help. An initial consultation is free. So contact me and let’s see if we can’t turn your family mystery into history.
